National Maritime Museum
Project description: A grant under ReDiscover has enabled the refurbishment of a number of galleries in the Old Observatory Buildings: Time for the Navy, Harrison, Standard and Precision Time. A disabled lift has also provide access to the refurbished galleries. A second ReDiscover grant has funded a new audio-visual simulation which forms the main focus of the development of the Museum Bridge Gallery. The simulation allows the visitor to exercise their navigation, steering and communications skills by controlling a cross channel ferry or other vessel as chosen from options available. The simulation provides an experimental, hands-on component to complement the nearby ‘All Hands Gallery’.
