| Award description: |
The Queen's Nursing Institute Scotland enabled people living in Scotland, who were not health professionals, to carry out projects which enhanced the health and general wellbeing of people in their local community. The scheme ran for 3 years and used the World Health Organisation's definition of health as 'physical, psychological, spiritual, environmental and social well being'. Examples of projects include, establishing a support group, organising an 'awareness day' or providing a new community service. Each Award winner received training and support from staff at the Queen's Nursing Institute. More specialist training was provided where needed and a network of mentors provided a more informal type of support to Award winners. |
