Manchester Millennium Quarter
Manchester Millennium Quarter
Project description: This revitalised sector of the City of Manchester features Exchange Square, Urbis, the Cathedral Visitor Centre and Cathedral Gardens. Exchange Square is the centrepiece of a series of streetscapes and major open spaces which link together the rebuilding of the city after the 1996 bomb damage. In the visionary landmark building of Urbis is an exhibition representing life in the modern city - its galleries, state-of-the-art multimedia and traditional methods recreating and exploring the experience of city life. At the Cathedral Visitor Centre people can now see the uncovered, medieval Hanging Bridge and Cathedral Gardens is a green and tranquil area of soft landscaping - a respite from the busy streets.
