UK School Games
UK School Games The UK School Games will give young people from all over the UK the chance to compete in the biggest school sports event the UK has ever seen.
The Games will replicate the feel of a major multi-sport event such as the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games or the Commonwealth Games. The Millennium Commission has supported the development of this important new event and believes that others will continue to support it in future years.
Glasgow hosted the first UK School Games from 7-10 September 2006. Funded by the Millennium Commission with a National Lottery grant of £1.5 million, these first Games were extremely successful and will form a sound basis for future developments. The Youth Sport Trust was responsible for staging the Games, which included athletics, swimming, gymnastics, table tennis and fencing plus disability events in athletics and swimming. More events will be added to subsequent tournaments, which will be held in cities across the UK - Coventry will host the Games in 2007. Competitors experience an Opening and Closing ceremony, medals and accommodation in a Games village.

It is envisaged that subsequent events will be held in cities across the UK. Cities have been asked to compete to host the Games for the years 2008-2011.
